The Department of Tourism has awarded two contracts for a total amount of 50,935.51 euros, aimed at implementing a digital accessible guidance system and the installation of 16 information totems in monuments and museums.
Accessible digital guidance system
The first contract includes the installation of an accessible and universal digital signage system in 50 points of tourist interest. The project contemplates the acquisition of specific licenses and DdTags codes, which will be installed in museums, monuments, unique buildings and other spaces of cultural, heritage and tourist interest in the city of Orihuela and the coast.
This project is aimed especially at people with visual disabilities, so that they can orient themselves autonomously, reach the signposted elements accurately and access contextualized information through their mobile phone.
The system will use DdTags codes, which stand out for being able to be read at a great distance and at an angle of up to 160 degrees, offering quick information even on the move. The execution period is three months and the winning company is Silvoturismo Mediterráneo, S.L., with a total amount of 25,893.01 euros.

The labels will be installed in cultural, heritage and tourist spaces in Orihuela City and Orihuela Costa, including the Palmeral de San Antón, the Horno de Bustamante, the Puerta de la Olma, the Santo Domingo Diocesan School, the Miguel Hernández House Museum, the Birthplace of Miguel Hernández, the Atanasio Die Circus Theater, the Museum of Holy Week, the Portillo Palace, the Palace of the Counts of Luna, the Orcelitano Casino, the Ramón Sijé Square, the Marquis of Rafal Palace, the Fernando de Loazes Library, the S.I. Cathedral of the Savior and Santa María, the Episcopal Palace and the Museum of Sacred Art, as well as the ascent to the Castle and the Diocesan Seminary. They will also be installed in the Palace of the Count of La Granja, the Museum of the Wall, the Royal Monastery of the Visitation of Santa María, the Parish Church of Saints Justa and Rufina, the Marquis of Arneva Palace, the Tourist Info Orihuela Centre, the Refuge of the Civil War, the Water Deposit and Wells of Cremós, the Museum of the Reconquest, the Rubalcava Palace, the Regional Archaeological Museum of Orihuela, the Parish Church of Santiago Apóstol, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Monserrate, the Murals of San Isidro, the Museum of the Nativity Scene, the Church of San Francisco and museum, the Cabo Roig Watchtower, the La Lonja Building, as well as on various beaches and coves of Orihuela Costa, including Punta Prima, Cala Mosca, Cala Estaca, Cala Cerrada, Cala Bosque, Cala Capitán, Cala Caleta, Calas de Aguamarina, Playa de la Glea, Playa Barranco Rubio, Mil Palmeras Beach, the Blue Trail and the Twin Ferris Wheels
Tourist information totems
The second contract focuses on the installation of 16 information totems at the main entrances of monuments and museums in the historic centre of Orihuela, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in the category of Historic Site.
The totems will offer accessible information on cultural and heritage resources, facilitating access to residents and visitors and enriching the tourist experience in the city.

The totems will be installed in the Santo Domingo Diocesan School, the Miguel Hernández House Museum, the Museum of Holy Week, the S.I. Cathedral of El Salvador, the Episcopal Palace, the Museum of the Wall, the Royal Monastery of the Visitation of Santa María, the Parish Church of Saints Justa and Rufina, the Marqués de Arneva Palace, the Museum of the Reconquest, the Parish Church of Santiago Apóstol, the Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de Monserrate, the Atanasio Die Circus Theater, the San Antón Palm Grove, the Regional Archaeological Museum of Orihuela and the Murals of San Isidro.
The execution period will also be three months and the successful bidder is the company Benito Urbano, S.L., with a total amount of 25,042.50 euros.
Both projects are funded by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, with funds from the European Union – Next Generation EU.
